Position Summary: Reports to Veterinary (5) and Crop Manager (2).
To work apiary and all bee related tasks and care as per Company Policy.
Ensure Company and Farm policies and Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
Essential Duties
- Responsible for all Beekeeping tasks, planning and organizing honey production.
- Building and maintaining beehives.
- Checking and ensuring all active hives are kept free from parasites to prevent disease, as per Company policy and instructions.
- Coordinate with Crop manager to ensure pollination requirements are met on farm.
- Maintain all apiary areas to the highest standards as per company’s protocols.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide samples for laboratory testing as requested.
- Ensure genetic diversity in the hives and coordinate with other keepers to achieve this.
- Ensure you are in a safe working environment and adhere to the Company Health & Safety Policy.
- Strictly follow biosecurity protocols as per Farm Procedures.
- You will be asked to support other activities on farm and in the logistics building in order to support the whole farm operation – as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Agriculture and / or equivalent.
Key Competencies
- Attention to detail, observational skills and recording all events and timings.
- Ability to work on your own.
Work Environment
The position requires you to work both inside and in outside conditions, throughout the year. There is a physical aspect to the role requiring at times, lifting and other physical works. The Company will provide the necessary protective equipment and clothing along with Company policy document and procedures to ensure safe working environment.
