Milling Manager – Tanzania

We are actively seeking a seasoned and results-driven Milling Manager to join our senior leadership
team in Tanzania’s growing poultry sector. This is a strategic role for an experienced professional with
the commercial insight and operational expertise to lead from day one and drive significant business
growth.
Major Roles & Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Development
 Market Expansion: Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to expand feed production capacity, customer base, and revenue streams
 Growth Strategy: Develop and implement strategic growth plans aligned with company objectives, targeting ____ capacity expansion over 3 years
 Commercial Alignment: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align production outputs with market demand and product development initiatives
 Competitive Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage and inform strategic decisions
 Partnership Development: Build strategic relationships with large-scale poultry producers and agricultural cooperatives.
2. Operational Excellence in Feed Production
 Production Leadership: Lead day-to-day operations of the poultry feed mill, ensuring production targets (4,000-5,000T monthly, scaling to 7,000T+) are met with high efficiency and quality
 Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement in production processes, focusing on performance optimization, resource utilization, and cost reduction
 Best Practices Implementation: Oversee implementation of best practices in feed formulation, process control, and output consistency
 Capacity Utilization: Optimize equipment utilization to achieve 85%+ efficiency rates
 Technology Integration: Lead adoption of new technologies to enhance production
capabilities.
3. Procurement and Supply Chain Management
 Strategic Sourcing: Manage sourcing and procurement of raw materials, ensuring cost effective and reliable supply of key inputs (maize, soybean meal, additives)
 Supplier Relations: Build strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favourable pricing and delivery terms, targeting 5-10% cost reductions annually
 Quality Standards: Ensure raw material quality standards are maintained to support high quality feed production
 Risk Management: Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions and price volatility.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
 Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and quality control standards throughout the milling process
 Quality Systems: Implement robust quality assurance systems to maintain consistent product quality and traceability
 Technical Collaboration: Coordinate with technical and formulation teams to meet nutritional standards required by poultry farmers
 Certification Management: Maintain relevant certifications and pursue additional quality accreditations.
5. Financial & Budget Management
 Budget Ownership: Develop and manage operational budget, with strong focus on cost control, profitability, and return on investment
 Financial Performance: Monitor key financial metrics (cost per ton, production yield, input costs) and implement corrective actions where needed
 Reporting: Support senior management with financial forecasts, performance reports, and capital expenditure planning
 Cost Optimization: Achieve target gross margins through operational efficiency.
6. Leadership & Team Development
 Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a cross-functional team : production supervisors,
operators, maintenance technicians, and support staff
 Performance Culture: Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety,
teamwork, and operational excellence
 Capability Building: Ensure continuous training and capability development to build a skilled
and motivated workforce
 Succession Planning: Develop internal talent pipeline for key operational roles.
7. Performance Indicators: KPIs will be discussed and finalized upon official commencement of
employment with the company.

 Commercial Mindset: Understanding of commercial strategy, cost control, and business growth principles.
Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
 Preferred Advanced qualifications in Management, Project Management or MBA Technical Knowledge
 Proven experience managing budgets, procurement, and operational efficiency in production or manufacturing environment.
 Strong understanding of commercial strategy, cost control, and business growth principles.
 Knowledge of poultry nutrition and feed formulation is advantageous.

Essential Experience
 7 to 10 years of proven experience in feed mill operations or related production management roles.
 Demonstrated track record of business development, driving operational growth, and leading teams.
 Experience managing procurement, budgeting, and cost control in medium- to large-scale manufacturing or agricultural feed environments.
 Proven track record of achieving production and financial targets.
 Exposure to strategic planning, commercial decision-making, and market expansion initiatives.
 Experience in emerging markets or international operations preferred
 Success in scaling operations and managing growth phases
